This event just proves the old adage that you can never take back vicious words once you have said them. He has likely spouted off like that many times before...he just got caught this time. He is, at least, unthinking and uncaring about what he says and desperately needs a good anger management course.

I don't think he's a cruel dad, I certainly remember being 13/14 and saying everything under the sun to push my mom's buttons. I would have slapped me too, haha! So he just lost it, he's like any other parent of a teenager...it just happens to be that he's famous and is held to a higher standard.

He lost his temper and anyone who has kids can understand some of it. But the Kim was by far the worst to have the media hear what he said to her on the phone by releasing the tape. They are both scum parents. Differences between parents is between them, children need not to be involved. Growing up is hard to do and when you have all this out there in the open. I heard the tape, and his language is inexcusable toward his daughter. I imagine he was totally pissed off and was experiencing blind rage, and the moral to the story is, don't say anything until you have had time to cool off. It did make me wonder, however, why the tape was released to the media in the first place...if Kim did it, it was very vindictive of her and she is as guilty as he is. He's certainly emotionally abusive... but so is her mother. She not only broke a court order by releasing the thing, she exposed her daughter to public humiliation and further shame... just to get the "upper hand" on Baldwin -doesn't seem as if she has her child's best interests at heart, either. I feel sorry for this girl... if these events are any indication, her parents are really horrible!

This is absolutely a private matter. I have never had any opinion on Alec Baldwin, one way or the other, until I heard this all over the news. In an interview with her lawyer, he was asked why this was released when it has been agreed that everything is to be kept out of the media, he answered that' he and Kim Bassinger thought carefully about this and decided to release it'. Why? Who are we to judge? We don't know the facts. As a mother of 7, I am very concerned about the motives and also about a little girl who may possibly be humiliated that her little friends have heard her Daddy being angry at her and it truly may ruin her right to have a future 'make up' and good relationship and be his 'Daddy's little girl. Not or business, but why was the tape released?
Could she not be answering her phone because her mother wont allow it?
Remember they are going thru a custody battle, and they are fighting for the child.
Gag order in place has been broken in the past, I don't condone what he said at all.
But as a parent what would you do if you try and reach your child and they don't answer the phone?
How would you react?
When a child is involved things can get out of control.

Kim it seems is not following what the court ordered.
lets wait and see what the truth is, many times it does not appear as it seems.

Example, I find my fiancee with someone in bed.
I drive to her place see the lights on and knock, the lights are on and as soon as I knock the lights go off.
I kick the door in and sure enough she is in bed with someone.
I leave and since we had mutual friends I never spoke about what happened that night but only to my closest freind.
She in turns tells everyone her side forgetting to mention that a guy from works was in her bed.
So I am called an a-hole this goes on till she cheats on him and he beats the **** out of her, by then the truth comes out.

Of course, his daughter shouldn't have gotten a message like that... she is just a child. However, this has been a long, unpleasant, drawn out custody battle. I think that Kim Basinger has tried to keep their daughter away from Alec, and she's probably lied to the daughter about him just to poison the relationship. He probably tries to reach his daughter all the time, and just got frustrated. I think Kim's decision to send the tape to the media is just as shameful as Alec's behavior on the phone.

My husband, who is the best father in the world (seriously... his kids adore him now), was also treated this way by his ex-wife. She lied to his kids about him and did everything she could do to ruin their relationship with him. My husband never lost his temper like Alec did, but it was v ery difficult to go through. Children are very easily influenced by their parents. I don't agree with what Alec did, but I can understand his frustration. I understand he was angry but he's the parent and she's the child. You don't discipline a child in anger and certainly not with berating and name-calling. Maybe he needs some anger management or parenting classes. When parents are verbally abusive with their children the kids often grow up with some scars.
